Harprit Kaur is a self-taught resin and mixed media artist. A single mother and co-founder of a tech start-up, she is squeezing in time to pursue her passion for art.
A contemporary abstract artist based in New Delhi, Harprit creates expressionistic paintings, captures breath-taking moments through her camera lens and pens poetry. Her vibrant paintings with bold colours are inspired by nature, the magical world of crystals and their healing power. Through her art, she hopes to spread awareness about the environment, peace and optimism.
The artist’s preteen daughter is also passionate about art and is being mentored by her mother. Due to their shared passion for art, they identified HRH as their brand name, which stands for the “House of Rabbani & Harprit.”
Harprit Kaur creates contemporary art which is absolutely unique by virtue of the artist’s intuitive process that she describes as “liquified emotions.” She begins each artwork by choosing the colours that reflect her emotions.
As she starts to pour them out, the canvas becomes a stage where the emotions interact and engage with each other before reaching the pinnacle. Layers of resin are poured until a desired pattern is achieved. She then adds texture, natural gemstones, glass crystals or shimmer to the high gloss resin to form multiple layers and give it a 3D effect.
The challenge in creating this type of art is leaving the emotions unidentified. With an approach as fluid as her art form, she believes in keeping her art open to any form of interpretation.
